Thurma Gibbins Laid to Rest

A steady rain fell on Cheyenne County this morning while family and friends of Thurma Grace (Nelck) Gibbins (1914 - 2009) gathered in the First UMC sanctuary to offer our witness and our goodbyes.

The Easter flowers that lined the rail behind the communion table added to the celebration of a life well-lived. Nan Mull provided the music. Shirley Oliverius sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Brenda Jessen coordinated the funeral luncheon, supported by helpers Belinda Alkula, Arlene Christensen, Marilee Rowan, Dorothy Rowe and Mae Talich. A complete list of those who provided cakes and salads will appear in the May newsletter.

The funeral homily offered by Pastor Charles Alkula is available by request from the church office. The pictures taken this morning are available at this link.
