Marilyn Wiles’ niece, Debbie Prentice, is a teacher at Africa University, which is located 17 km outside Mutare, Zimbabwe's third largest city. It is a private, Pan-African and United Methodist-Related institution.
At today's 10:00 a.m. worship service, we dedicated a prayer shawl for Debbie. The shawl was placed over Marilyn's shoulders, and Pastor Charles and members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry Team prayed over it.
We plan to mail it to Debbie later this week, along with some other items from home which are either very expensive in Zimbabwe or are simply not available there. We don't know how long it will take for these things to reach her. Hopefully they will arrive by Thanksgiving.
If other church members or FUMC Friends would like to contribute toward the "love and care" shipments to this missionary, please take them to the church office between now and November 25th.
Our idea is to send two shipments. The first will go out later this week, so she might receive it by Thanksgiving. At the November 25th worship services, we will dedicate more of these items and send them off to her so that, hopefully, she will recieve them by Christmas.
