Don Baumbach Funeral
The community of faith gathered this morning (May 31st) to say farewell to Don Baumbach, a member of long standing here at First UMC in Sidney. Don valiantly fought cancer for eight years and in the end willing went to his heavenly home.
Phyl Holmead read the scriptures and the Wesley Four provided the inspirational music which Don loved so much.
Pastor Charles Alkula offered a homily which reflected upon Don's love of family, church, and his Huskers!
What a special day this was and we will appreciate the witness of Don for a long time to come.

The Baptism of Aiden John Muhs
The highlight of the last Sunday in May was the baptism of Aiden John Muhs, son of Mitch and Melissa Muhs (and brother of Carson!) at our 10:00 service. Proud family members joined a proud congregation in welcoming a new member to the household of God.
This Sunday was also the last Sunday with two services for the remainder of the summer. Starting June 1st there will be one service at 9:00 a.m.

Nothing But Nets Brunch
Thanks to Mitch Muhs with the UMM and Janet Rosenbaum with the UMYF, $240 was raised for the Nothing But Nets campaign! That amount is doubled thanks to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation!! So that means that 48 nets will be donated and that translates into lives that are saved. Great job to everyone involved.

Fellowship Time - May 4, 2008
The snow of two days ago is gone already and the atmosphere this morning was bright and sunny! Bill and Bea Dinkel celebrated their 50th anniversary with their church family between services this morning and the fellowship was as bright as the conditions outside!
Pastor Charles had a treat this morning when the members of the Third Grade class presented him with a bead cross they had made that morning. Bob Long has done such a wonderful job this year with this special group!
